If you were appointed as an executor, you certainly don't have to clean out the entire house by yourself. Of course it's fine to hire people who are appropriate for the job. We don't pay an attorney's rate, for example, to clean out a house.
If you need assistance you hire somebody who has the job of cleaning out houses, taking things to the dump, taking things to goodwill. That's a fine and legitimate expense for a trust or for a will.
