You should only list a stepchild as a “child” in your Trust if they are legally adopted. If your stepchild is not legally adopted, there is still a way to include them — just not under the “children” section.
Including a Stepchild as a Beneficiary
Even if your stepchild is not legally adopted, you can still include them as a beneficiary by following these steps:
When you reach the beneficiary section, simply enter your stepchild’s full legal name and the inheritance amount or percentage you’d like them to receive.
