For your Revocable Trust, you are able to designate Secondary Beneficiaries (contingent beneficiaries), in case your general beneficiaries do not survive or die with you. Beneficiaries listed here will receive your trust assets (also referred to as the residue of the trust estate) only if your general beneficiaries do not survive.
Contingent Beneficiary
A contingent beneficiary is the person or trust that you designate to receive the proceeds of a life-insurance policy, an IRA, pension benefit, or annuity in the event that your primary beneficiary doesn't survive you or dies at the same time that you do.
Residue of Estate
The residue of the estate is everything that’s left over after making any specific gifts that you may want to make.
To edit the selected secondary beneficiaries (contingent beneficiaries):
1. Click on 'Your Info' at the top left of the program, then scroll down to select
'Beneficiaries - Make Changes'.
2. Scroll down to find Secondary Beneficiaries and click 'Make Changes'
3. Here you will be able to edit your Secondary Beneficiaries.
We recommend you 'Remove' beneficiaries and re-add them if you're trying to edit values for them.
